Discover what’s inside.
Theodore Turner loves turning the dials, pulling the levers, and snapping photos with his Nana’s 1967 film camera.
He dreams of becoming a professional photographer one day but what if he’s not good enough? Curious to see more pictures of his family, Theodore asks Nana about the photo albums, and she points him to the attic.
That night, Theodore tip-toes upstairs and discovers something extraordinary: Remy, the Turner Macaw of Awe. Together, they journey through photographs that come alive with the stories of the musicians, scientists, activists, dreamers, and doers in his family’s past.
Through these awe-filled tales, Theodore realizes his Black American heritage is rich with courage and creativity and that he can grow up to be anything he imagines.
